While the majority of our time will be spent talking, therapeutic interventions, such as Art Therapy, Dream Analysis, or Body-oriented Techniques can be utilized when appropriate and comfortable for you. These interventions would be utilized to expand the way we might otherwise perceive a particular issue. It is also a way to access unconscious material, not otherwise readily available. In unconscious territories we are introduced to new possibilities, and unknown aspects of ourselves. Talking, as well as examining dreams for example, may thus be utilized to examine the presenting issues with greater awareness. Identifying and integrating these insights into one’s mind-body-spirit offer transformation. The following are examples of therapeutic interventions that could be utilized during a session:
Art Therapy
Using art supplies, clients are guided to give form to an emotional or subconscious experience to gain greater perspective and insight. This is not about being an artist. This is an opportunity to examine what you are experiencing psychologically more deeply with added perspective and dimension.
Body Oriented Techniques
While the majority of our time will be spent talking, body-oriented techniques may be utilized to amplify a particular movement, or tension felt in the body, for example. The body can speak to what you are experiencing in a way that is different than how we otherwise perceive what we know. In listening to our bodies we may hear something in a new way that sheds light and furthers awareness. Body-oriented Techniques can be utilized when appropriate and comfortable for you.
Dream Analysis
Like other interventions, Dream Analysis aides in amplifying our material symbolically. It is particularly helpful as dreams are understood to be an autonomous communication from the unconscious, thus not limited by our conscious attitudes. Dreams can reflect the challenges we face, and/or point to a way through them that our conscious ego might otherwise be limited to perceive.
